The mission of the Atlanta Police Department is to create a safer Atlanta by reducing crime, ensuring the safety of our residents and building trust in partnership with our community.

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS
Atlanta is dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for the people of its many communities. For primary education, the public system (Atlanta Public Schools) serves more than 50,000 students in over 85 schools, including seven unique charter schools. Many prominent private schools are also available in Atlanta’s various neighborhoods.
For adults interested in continuing education, Atlanta is home to more than 30 public and private institutions of higher learning, including Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Georgia State University and Oglethorpe University, among others.

WHAT AGE RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO JOINING THE ATLANTA POLICE DEPARTMENT?
You must reach your twenty-first birthday by the time you graduate from the police academy. There is no maximum age restriction.
